About the School Mentor Position

AP4ALL recognizes the importance of having an on-site school mentor work closely with students taking online courses. Mentor support plays a tremendous part in student success. The school mentor will help AP4ALL teachers guide and support students and increase the likelihood of student success.

School mentors are a student's lifeline between AP4ALL classes and the local school. Mentors help students establish expectations for their online course, monitor student progress, and keep in touch with parents, instructors, and other support staff.

Each school that enrolls a student in an AP4ALL course is required to provide a school mentor.

Only one school mentor per school is required, regardless of the number of students or the number AP4ALL courses in which they are enrolled.

School Mentor Stipend

School mentors at qualifying schools will be awarded a stipend for students enrolled from their school.

Number of Students Stipend Amount
1 - 3 Students$500
4 - 6 Students$750
7+ Students$1000

AP4ALL will not fund a school mentor position at non-qualifying schools.

The Role of the School Mentor

The role of an effective mentor is to:

  • Meet with students at least once a week .
  • Review online student progress on a regular basis.
  • Follow up on submitted assignments to make sure they are being received.
  • Correspond with instructors.
  • Talk with parents.
