HED 598 - Special Topics: Amer Comm Col

Instructor: Susan Gardner

Description: Concentrated study of designated topics in higher education. Topics may vary depending on faculty and student interest. May be repeated for credit.

SED 572 - Educational Needs of Students with Physical and Medical Disabilities

Instructor: Mark Fairman

Description: An overview of the physical and medical aspects of children and youth with severe and multiple handicaps. Course taught by skilled health, medical and special education professionals who work directly with students with severe handicaps. Course is appropriate for educators, therapists and other professionals who work directly with students with severe handicaps.

SED 605 - Seminar in Special Education

Instructor: Jim Artesani

Description: Advanced study of current issues, problems, and controversies in special education. Typically taken as the final course in the master's program in special education.

How to Register for a Course

For further information on graduate courses listed above, contact the University of Maine Graduate School at 581-3219. Registration questions can be answered by Becky Libby.

ATM questions can be answered by Anne Perloff at (207) 561-3584.

If you are not enrolled in a degree program:
You will need to fill out a Graduate Non-degree form as well as a Course Registration form.

  1. Go to the UMaine Graduate School web site at www2.umaine.edu/graduate/.
  2. Click on the "Forms and Documents" link on the left.
  3. Scroll until you find the "Non-degree Application & Registration" link.
  4. Open the file (available in either PDF or Word format).
  5. Print and complete the two forms contained in the file.
  6. Submit both forms to the graduate school with a check covering the $25 non-degree application fee. You will be billed for the course at a later date.

If you are enrolled in a degree program:
